1. Saksenburg:

Cape provision-ship of 610 tons, built in1723 at Amsterdam Yard for the Amsterdam Chamber of the Dutch East India Company. Wrecked off Cape Agulhas on 8 January 1729 after leaking so badly that the crew were obliged to jettison her guns, while on a voyage from Batavia to the Cape with a cargo of rice.

2. Le Centaure:

French ship. Wrecked a little west of Cape Agulhas on 19 January 1750 in fine weather while on a voyage from Mauritius to France.

3. Mentor: 

Dutch vessel of 1150 tons, built in 1774 at the Amsterdam Yard for the Dutch East India Company, and commanded by Johan de Korte. Wrecked on a reef off Cape Agulhas on 5 January 1780 during a heavy storm while on a home ward-bound voyage from Batavia, which she had left on 27 October 1779.

4. Brederode:

British iron ship of 1062 tons, build in 1864 by Lawrie, Glasgow, and commanded by Capt J. Laback. Struck the middle blinder of the reef off Struis point on 27October 1868 During a Westerly wind and sank in 38 m of water while on a voyage from Penang to London with cargo of rum, rattans, pepper, hides, sugar, horns, tapioca and large cargo of tin ingots. Most of the tin was salvaged In 1977

5. Grace:

A British ship of 250 tons, built in 1811 at Ipswich, and commanded by Capt Robert Lethbridge. Ran ashore east of Quoin Point on 4 June 1822 after catching fire and being abandoned while on a voyage from Port Jackson to London With a cargo of wool and grain oil.

6. La Lise:

A French ship commanded by Captin Le Cacheuf. Wrecked in Struis Bay on 9 March 1840 at night while on voyage from Mauritius to Bordeaux. She came ashore near Mungo point.

7. St Mungo:

A British barque of 355 tons, Built in 1839, and commanded by Capt W.H.Lamond. Wrecked on St Mungo Point, 1km east of Cape Agulhas, at 05h00 on 20 September 1844 during calm but foggy weather while on a voyage from Calcutta to Nwecastle, England, with a cargo of sugar, rice linseed, castor oil, jute, 1800 ox and buffalo-hide and teak.

8. Montgomery:

A American ship commanded by Capt Constant. Wrecked at Agulhas Point at 21h00 on 15 March 1847 during a south-east gale while on a voyage from Manila to Boston.

9. Juno:

IDutch barque of 631 tons, commanded by Capt W.J.Chevalier. Wrecked on the point of Cape Agulhas, directly under the lighthouse, at 13h00 on 2 march 1852 in dense fog while on a voyage from Batavia to Rotterdam with a cargo of coffee, sugar , rattans and tin blocks. 

10. Scotland:

A British ship of 969 tons, commanded by Capt Bolase. Wrecked on Montgomery Point on 27 June 1860 at night after having put into Struis Bay while on a voyage from Aden to Pensacola in ballast.

11. Wafra:

Commanded by Capt A. Marzeddu. Wrecked on 28 February 1971 while carrying 63 174 tones of crude oil.

12. Meisho maru:

Struisbaai Wrecks

1. Nossa Senhora dos Milagros

Portuguese East-Indiaman commanded by Don Emmanual de Silva. Wrecked near Cape Agulhas on 16 April 1686 at night while on a homeward-bound voyage from Goa, which she had left on 27 January 1686 with Jesuit Priests, three ambassadors from the King of Siam and a cargo of pepper and saltpetre on board.

2. Jupiter:

3. Meermin:

Dutch hoeker of 450 tons, built in 1759 at the Amsterdam Yard for the Amsterdam Chamber of the Dutch East India Company, and used by the Cape authorities. Wrecked at Cape Agulhas on 9 April 1766 after the 140 slaves she was carrying from Madagascar tried to take control of the vessel in order to return home.

4. Duke of Northumberland:

English East-Indiaman ship of 608 tons, built in1831 at Newcastle, and commanded by Capt G. Wood. Wrecked on Northumberland Point, a little east of Cape Agulhas, at 24h00 on 25 August 1838 while on homeward-bound voyage from Madras to London with a 600-ton cargo of silks, indigo, cotton, ebony , redwood, coffee and iron.

5. Gentoo:

American ship commanded by Capt Hollis. Wrecked on Northumberland Point, Struisbay at 22h00 on 29 April 1846 while on voyage from Calcutta to Boston with a cargo of indigo, shellac, saltpetre and hides.

6.Ospray:

Schooner of 71 tons, commanded by Capt Blomguitt. Wrecked in Otterbaai on Struisbaai Point on 19 January 1860 while on voyage from Maulmein, Burma, Cork with a cargo of teak.

7.Barrys I :

British wooden schooner of 149 tons, built in 1841 at Hull, and commanded by Capt J. Dixon. Wrecked in Struisbay on 4 April 1848 at night after her cables parted during a south-east gale with cargo of wool and grain 

8.Albert :

Cape oak schooner of 189 tons, built in 1844 in Dundee, and commanded by Capt J. Morton. Wrecked in Struisbay on 5 February 1857 after striking a reef off Danger Point while on her way from Table Bay to East London with a cargo of teak, Memel, spars, tea, brandy, tobacco, brass and ironware.

9. Onward :

Schooner of 99 tons, commanded by Capt J.Tosh. Wrecked near Zoetfontein in the Caledon district on 14 January 1858 while on voyage from Capetown to Mauritius.

10. Oriental Pioneer :

A Chinese bulk carrier of 58 926 tons, built in 1966 by Sasebo Heavy Industries, Japan, and commanded by Cape H.R. Chizen. Run ashore off Northumberland Point at Cape Agulhas on 22 July 1974 after springing a leak while on a voyage from Maputo to Europe fully laden with 50 000 tons of iron ore.

SS Sceptre

British cargo vessel of 5 280 tons, built in 1921 by Craig, Taylor & Co, Stockton, and commanded by Cape Newman. Wrecked on the rocks 900m offshore off Northumberland Point, 8 km from Cape Agulhas, on 22 May 1925 at night while on voyage  from Cardiff to Mauritius with a cargo of coal. The crew were saved

Dundrennan

British iron ship of 1950 tons, built in 1880 by Oswald Mordaunt & Co, Southhampton, and commanded by Cape H. A. Palmer. Wrecked on Struis Point on 6 April 1895 in fog while on a voyage from Chittagong to Dundee with cargo of  jute. 

Duke of Northumberland

IEnglish East-Indiaman (ship) of 608 tons, built in 1831 at Newcastle, and commanded by Capt G. Wood. Wrecked on Northumberland Point, a little east of Cape Agulhas, at 24h00 on 25 August 1838 while on homeward-bound voyage from Madras to London with a 600-ton cargo of silks,indigo, cotton, eboney, redwood, coffee and iron. No lives were lost, but the cargo could not be saved.
